I will always remember him for not celebrating a goal for Norwich against Aston Villa because he hoped to move to Villa. And then didn't. Modern football.

The highest MOTM to minutes played ratio in the history of football.

        He deserved better.

As was written on RTE.ie, if he'd have retired from international football at the same age as Paul Scholes he'd have had 1 cap.

To be fair,Paul Scholes didn't play a large part of his career at Shelbourne,Livingston and Blackpool

It was annoying at the time, but he's been long since forgiven for that. During that season, the utterly hopeless Chris Hughton kept refusing to play Wes (and would drop him) even after a Man of the Match performance. By the following season, we were relegated, Hughton was gone, and Hoolahan was a regular once again.

He's been one of the best and one of my favourite Norwich players over the last decade. To be fair, he looks knackered now and I think it will be his last season with us, so the Ireland news is not a surprise.

I'd have gone with "Was Hoolahan" as the title.

                  15 competitive starts for Ireland.
