They have a lot of smugly self-referential "ironic" songs and also a fucking cowbell which lose them a lot of the plus points that their Pride flag & merch built up.

Standing with said Whitehawk ultras for the entire first half during a post lockdown game was what really made me fall in love with Hastings United. The second half, after the fans had switched ends, was wholehearted, sweary, traditional football support without a hint of irony and I appreciated it all the more for it's contrast with what had gone before.

(Having said that, I did quite like "never, ever, going back to Bognor.")
