Whats the lowest transfer fee in the Premier League nowadays?

I see Luton have spent the princely sum of £2.5 million for Blackburn goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and are reported to pay a similar sum for Joshua King.

On the Sky Sports News ticker today, it mentioned that Bournemouth have spent sixteen million on a player from Fiorentina. And over the years, we've seen painfully average players move clubs for twenty plus million.

This got me thinking, even with clubs like Bournemouth routinely spending seven figures, is this the lowest transfer fee in the last few years of the Premier League? Is there any lower (free transfers not counting obviously)?

What about the old bag of footballs and a set of shirts deal?

I don't have any answers by the way.

In the infamous Summer of Dale (2020), we paid £1m for Dale Stephens.

I think we got Nick Pope for £1m as well.

I've been looking into this years transfers for a thing and it's interesting how the BRCs + Villa are spraying silly money around.

Free transfers are important, not that it invalidates any point you make.

Brighton pick up a few, Joel Veltman cost £900,000 which is incredible value.

Particularly with Man United paying £64m for Højlund, whose club record is fairly patchy, but evidently that transfer mustn't have been fully completed yet.

Yeah, the thing I am thinking about is how there are two markets in the PL - the top end are paying £50mn+ generally and £25mn is considered "cheap" but the bottom end clubs are still around £20mn at the top end and £10-15mn on average. Not much middle ground in something like Haller going to West Ham for £45mn.

Unless you've never heard of the player, a free transfer is just one where you pay the fee to the player. Often a very big fee.
