I listen fairly regularly to 'Classical Fix' - a Radio 3 podcast that takes a non-classical buff and tries to find classical music that they may find of interest. I like it because of the crossover into minimalism, ambient and out-there jazz that sometimes pops up. Anyway, the series was presented by Clemmie Burton-Hill, until it was taken over by Jules Buckley. Anyway, I recently listened to an episode - where Clemmie was back and interviewing Emma Barnett for an International Women's Day special. Until then, I had no idea that Clemmie had recently experience a serious brain injury and it was the first time she's been able to present. It was such a powerful episaode, with her working so hard to speak, it really brought a lump to my throat. Here it is, for anyone who wants a listen.

Not heard it but I'd heard she was back for a one-off so thanks for reminding me, VT. Radio 3 has some really excellent presenters. I especially love Jess Gillam. She's only about 21 but handles the presenting with ease, is a good interviewer and has a great and eclectic taste in music. Added to that she plays a mean sax.

I can’t speak highly enough of Kate Bowler’s podcast. She’s an historian of North American religion at Duke. She’s from Manitoba. She is an expert on the “prosperity gospel,” which she rejects. But when she got stage 4 cancer, she realized she hadn’t really rejected it. And now she’s learning how to live without expecting that anyone ever really gets what they deserve, so to speak.

A piece of her TED talk has been cut to mean exactly the opposite of what she said. She does not believe that we get back what we “put out” into the world.
