He was wonderful in Drop the Dead Donkey and in A Leopard in Autumn

Just saw this, and it shouldn't be a nil thread. He was indeed great in Drop the Dead Donkey, probably the best.

Agreed - I can't remember whether I put Henry Davenport in my list of favourite TV characters we had here a while back but if I didn't, I really should have.

Henry Davenport was a fine creation, played perfectly by Swift D, I guess his age prevented him progressing to plum roles like the rest of that cast (not always deservingly).
