In 1970 the BBC ran a 13 part dramatisation of Sartre's trilogy that is kind of legendary - they never broadcast it again and it had remained in their locked vaults ever since (more or less). For its time it was completely full of previously taboo things that had never been on TV before (homosexuality, full frontal nudity, abortion, drug use, communism, etc etc) Obviously I've never seen it. Anyway, it is apparently being shown in full, after so long during which nobody could see it, by BBC4 I think starting tonight
I wont be able to see it now either, but it sounds like a fascinating historical document as well as (apparently) incredibly well acted TV
