Being a seafarer, decided to give this a watch the other night. Absolutely dreadful, groaned and creaked like some old tramp steamer. What really got me was an article in Radio Times, bemoaning the treatment of William Murdoch in the Cameron film, and how they were going to redress the balence. Then they go and portray Charles Lightoller as a bumbling incompetant fey Southerner brought to book by a Toff!

I couldn't be arsed, honestly. I had enough of James Cameron's technically-superb yet dramatically flaccid epic (seen it once, that was it) so I'm not going to go through all that again.
I suppose it's difficult to approach the dramatisation of an event like the Titanic because it's hard to get a dramatic handle on such a situation. It's very much like some disaster movies: while the main event may be a compelling watch, the dramas surrounding it tend to be superfluous and a bit dull.
