And The Rezillo's! Wondering about Hi - Tension, how exactly do you do the "British Hustle"?

I was truly aghast at Dylan being interpreted through the medium of Legs and Co. Speaking of which, keep an eye out for the bastard son of Cockney Wanker (unless of course it was Cockney Wanker himself) in the audience as Legs and Co go crazy to 'The Two Johns' once again.

I guess now that the anniversary show has passed that it is safe to shop Peter Powell now? Well there's no fucking chance of them showing the 1000th episode is there?

Well he probably wasn't available for a PA! Give it another two years and then there's the Legs & Co take on "Bankrobber"!

Sorry for returning to the thread after more than a year away, but:

Rezillos were great, and very Scottish looking. Fay Fife, I wish I wae.

The British Hustle appears to bear the same relation to The Hustle as British Sherry does to Sherry.

Legs vs. Dylan - score draw.

Jilted John reminds me of being on holiday on Caldey Island so is beyond musical assessment.

Interesting one tonight with Kid Jenson, forgot that Marshall Hain had more than one hit. As for Lrgs & Co, how close we're the cameramen trying to get to their chuffs?

                Um, close, definitely.

I was trying to put my finger on what Marshall Hain's big hit was and had to look it up (Dancing In The City, of course); definitely couldn't have told you there was a second. Other bits that jumped out were Blame It On The Boogie being performed by its writer, the other Michael Jackson, a.k.a. Mick, and Rasputin — I mean, we all accept it as an, erm, bona fide Boney M disco classic now, but how on earth do you reach the stage in the first place of recording a catchy dance tune about the mad monk dude whose strange hold over the Tsarina in the early years of the 20th century could be said to precipitate the Russian Revolution? Hardly traditional lyrical fare, is it — still, just add a ra-ra and off they went to another million sales. Bonkers.

While Dancing in the City was a Top 3 hit here and shifted over a million copies worldwide, the follow-up Coming Home fairly tanked by comparison. It peaked at #39 in the UK: if that constitutes a 'second hit', then okay.

We were channel hopping and came across last night's offering.
                    Apart from memories.....
                    1. BBC4's sound is appalling - we had to have the volume jammed right up to hear anything.
                    2. How nice all the so called punks of the day were. My wife commented on how clean they all looked, no tattoos, piercings.
In fact Sham 69 with so very clean cut, they could have been in an advert for a low cost A&F.
                    3. Were Boney M performing at a chicken in a basket dinner dance review thing - that sure as hell wasn't the TOTP studio? and they cut they great intro.
                    4. Why didn't they show the clip from Grease for "summer loving"? Thats all I can ever remember seeing back in the day on TOTP.

I am amazed I still know all the words to "Rat Trap".
So that means Rod the mod will be polluting the airwaves soon, as he knocked the Ratters off the the top.

Legs and Co were even more crap than I recall.
And the styles in the audience, this was supposed to be 1978; but it could have been anytime from 1972 onwards - tank tops ahoy.

                    Enjoyed it all very much.

Been enjoying the last few weeks' worth of shows during the last 10 days or so at breakfast time with my kids.

So, probably no surprise that we were woken up this morning to one six-year-old shouting/singing 'I'll be your substitute' this morning, while her twin kept mumbling 'Do the British Hustle' which has become a favourite, seeing as it was on three successive shows.

Meanwhile, the eight-year-old has been inquiring as to the meaning of the insults in Jilted John.

I think the dance groups were getting very near the wire to outright soft porn by 1978 (Hot Gossip, Hill's Angels) and Legs & Co were dragged down to that level.

1978. I'd estimate I probably spent a good 80 or 90% of that year sporting an erection so it's intriguing and somewhat soul-destroying to compare my body's (lack of) reaction to the female acts now as compared to then.

That bird from Dollar used to be wonderful. Yet looking back she's just a lass with a nice face and fat thighs. Someone get me a Tardis.

I really fancied Therese Bazarre (or however it was spelled) at a young age (me, not her) although I did go off her somewhat when someone pointed out to me that she had more obviously muscular, footballing legs than Charlie Nicholas, her actual footballing squeeze at the time.

She had a solo career post-Dollar - yet somehow didn't see fit to adopt the name '50 Cent'.

Look at the promo video for Mirror Mirror and try and tell me she wasn't kicking lower division wingers up and down a football pitch when she wasn't in the recording studio.

The Battle for Buck's Fizz - from Butlins to the Falklands

An expensive flop of an album produced by Arif Mardin. Fuck knows how the poor woman put up with Van Day for so long but I hope these re-runs continue until we get to the teeth-rotting, sugary goodness of the Trevor Horn produced singles.
