Is this the worst festival lineup ever?

It's Emily Eavis' first attempt isn't it?

James Blunt is not fit to lace Shaky's brothel creepers.

The absolute no-brainer choice for a major stage headliner this year had to be British Sea Power. Thirty thousand people, No Lucifer, Canvey Island, Waving Flags? Come on, sort it out.

That's not the sort of lineup that shouts 'classic' at you is it? It ought to rain too just to really rub it in.

It's about time Heterosexual Rock n' Roll made a comeback.

Yeah but it's a bit of an edited list (to say the least) and a couple are just opening the bills so are hardly headlining! Christ, the Glastonbury Town Band are on the main stage just before Gilbert O'Sullivan.

Saying that GOS has written some of the most ingenious songs ever and most other lyricists couldn't touch him. He has been rightly reassessed in recent years.

Hopefully, Jay-Z will send over a few complimentary cigars the size of John Terry's thighs over to Gilbert's caravan, to thank him for elevating him to his lofty position in hip-hop by suing the arse off Biz Markie in the early 90s, meaning that only Jay and Kanye West can afford to properly sample these days.

Although 'Claire' is downright peculiar 'Nothing Rhymed' and 'Alone Again, Naturally' are fine records. Shakin' Stevens was an honest toiler at the rock'n'roll coal face for a long, long time. He deserves his breaks. As for James Blunt, unspeakable.

Does Shakey still do benefits for the Communist Party?

I didn't know that he did.

Many, many years ago I saw Shakin' Stevens and the Sunsets playing to five people at the old Nottingham Technical College. They were on a bill with Ginger Baker's Air Force. They were playing in one room while Baker's gear was being set up in another. Most of the crowd would sooner sit cross-legged and watch a small army of roadies than Shakey and the boys. Shakey didn't seem to care. He played a storming set and those few of us who stayed to watch saw a really good rock'n'roll band. Shakey has payed his dues. Don't begrudge him.

Could you use the brackets please?

Shakin' Stevens has indeed paid his dues.
He'll get a hero's welcome. He might be the only one though.
