Richard Widmark receives his Kiss of Death

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7315340.stm

Looking at him in relative terms, he wasn't so much a leading man as a top-class supporting player, but it's surprising how soon he slipped away from the Hollywood limelight and made only sporadic appearances on film or television, even as early as the Eighties, working for directors as diverse as Volker Schlondorff and, er, Irwin Allen.

    RIP, Mr. W.

He was pretty charismatic, I reckon. That film where he's a wrestling agent in London is a classic, and he's on TCM every other week as the evil surgeon in 'Coma'.

That'd be Night and the City and was, in fact, remade in the late '80's with De Niro and Jessica Lange.

Yep, Coma. He's pretty good in that too. You needn't go out and buy the DVD. I think TCM will show that until they can't carry on broadcasting anymore.
