Now I spent a bit of time trying to think of footballers with names like "string" and "noose", but none came to mind. Having seen the two entries for these words, still none come to mind...

I live in Bridport - the rope capital of the world. All the nets for Wembley, Wimbledon etc are made here. A Bridport Dagger is ye olde name for a noose. Back to the studio.LOL.

Don't think he ever played the game, but surely David Sheepshanks is worth a mention?

'David Sheepshanks' and 'Bridport Dagger' should certainly be mentioned in the same sentance

Isn't there a brazilian striker somewhere called 'Thread'

Don't know about that, but Harry Threadgold was a goalkeeper for West Ham.

You make me laugh you people. None of you would have the balls to go into The Ropemakers Pub in Bridport and start pissing about with rope names. Yet you feel its quite ok to do it on the internet.
