Wenger gets a lot of praise for doing things on the cheap, but it's of his own volition -- Arsenal are rolling in money and he could easily splash the cash if he wanted. But this shoestring approach means that his squad is pretty thin in places -- and so, quite often, when the chips are down, he's left relying on numpties like Senderos, whose attempt to pick up Hyypia at that corner was pathetic.

I think one of the main reasons Wenger keeps his spending low is because he wants to win a moral argument with Fergie/Man Utd.

You can kind of see why he does it, but a lot of the time, the end result is that Arsenal are hurt by their lack of good squad players, having to field people like Senderos and Bendtner and Hoyte in crucial games.
