Going by those 'old board' lists, I didn't feature in 2005, re-entered at #19 in 2006 and then dropped right out again in 2007. (The latter was a parenthood thing.)

What's sad about those old lists is how many people have gone away. Not only the usual Melody Maker 'A list' but all the regular guys you sort of knew.

Using my thousandth post (in seven years) to say thank you to all the frequent posters who make the forum a friendly, interesting place. i'm one of those who takes from it (from you) far more than i give, so i do want to recognise the people who put the thought and effort in, even when your bosses might not be as appreciative.

Wyatt Earp by a very large margin, I believe. At one point, he'd been gone for over a year and was still in second place. Not sure where that stands now, of course. But he was prolific.

The fact I am only 40th in that list, despite being 4th and 6th in 2nd half of 2017 and 2018 so far, is further evidence that OTF was far busier before I joined.

It doesn't necessarily show that though. It could be explained by most of the heavy posters of yore having left and been replaced by new heavy posters who haven't caught up in the all-time charts yet. Or maybe even replaced by a million new posters who each only post a couple of times a day. In isolation, that fact doesn't tell you anything about the overall busyness of the board.

I think this year I've really dropped off. Work has been really tough, and I'm guessing that most of my posts only came in World Cup threads or the American politics thread. I feel like I don't know anything that's happening on the board now.
