    BBC Children's Animation Narrators

The recent death of Richard Baker reminded me that he narrated Mary, Mungo and Midge in 1969. Which other narrators were mainly famous for doing something else, And how did they get offered these animation jobs?

Think Jean Morton used to do animation voice overs.

Terry Wogan voiced the not-particularly-fondly-remembered Stoppit and Tidyup.

I loved that as a nipper. You've upset me a bit now.

EDIT: And Simon Cadell did Bump:

I've never heard of Stoppit and Tidyup, but it doesn't sound the most attractive title for pre-schoolers.

Indeed - he not only narrated said show, but contributed the voices in an amusing manner.

I knew that Willie Rushton had done one; apparently it was The Trap Door.

That was ITV, though. Tyne Tees to be precise (you'd think STV or Grampian, maybe even Border but no... that'd be too easy).

And for the benefit of Jah:

On this note, Lauren Laverne narrates Tee and Mo, Alexander Armstrong does Hey Duggee (which is amazing, I hasten to add).

I want to add Roger Allam (Peter Mannion from The Thick Of It) but he's not quite a narrator, more Sarah's unseen father/guardian, in Sarah & Duck.
