RIP indeed. Don't Look Now scared the absolute sh*t out of me when I first saw it.

Always cold shouldered when expressing love for Man Who Fell To Earth. And I get why its not appreciated universally or otherwise. Likely wouldnt get made now but that says more about contemporary tastes.

Roeg was a cameraman before he was a director and shot some films as difference as Far from the Madding Crowd A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum Fahrenheit 451 and Roger Cormans's wonderful The Masque of the Red Death

he shot the rightly much praised Walkabout as well as directing it (from a script by playwright Edward Bond). He was all about the image, which was one of the things that made his works so distinctive, especially amongst British directors.

Share the love for The Man Who Fell To Earth- The Witches is pretty good too.

Bertolucci has just died too. Bad week for influential directors

The Man Who Fell to Earth was indeed a fine film.

(Easily Bowie's best celluloid moment, too - which I guess isn't saying masses, tbh.)
