Well, that's quite a turn-up. This is the German equivalent of pulling the plug on Coronation Street. Fräulein Pepys is not happy.

I didn't know of that soap (not having lived in Germany since 1985), but I'm amused by the title: several years before that series existed, I did a school exchange (two years running) with a boy who lived on a Lindenstrasse (specifically, the one in the small town of Ochtrup, Westphalia)

Edit: and that post has just prompted me to contact his family out of the blue (ringing the family home, the phone number of which was easily findable from an internet search), for the first time since Peter visited me in Hamburg in 1984. His parents are still alive and well, and his mother just gave me his phone number.
