Heh, don't think it does as it happens.

Defendable score now, let's hope it can stretch to a challenging one. The stats for this ground show second innings totals are usually around the same as the first.

Rooted out, after a brilliant 124 from 145.

Blimey, Curran out straight away as the ball gives the faintest brush to off stump and dislodges the bail.

            Hat-trick ball, Rashid to face.

            He sees it away.

Rashid given out LBW, might have been some bat on it but no reviews left. Those two wickets since Root went means the target is going to be about par. The radio commentators are blaming Stokes for 'just having a punt' with his pointless review earlier.

The TalkSport commentary has been ok, incidentally. Darren Gough is only wheeled out in the intervals, and Mark Nicholas is doing a lot of the legwork.

Edit - ah, balls, Gough is still there. But he's not saying too much at least.

Amusing to see the Aussie and Lankan TV commentators pretending they hadn't seen Rashid's massive inside edge on the ball he was given out LBW to.

This has been an absolute cracker. England may or may not win, but I think their proactive approach has been absolutely the right one. Hopefully they won't sweep each and every time in the next game*, but it's got them a handy lead this time around.

                    * they will definitely sweep each and every time in the next game

TalkSport commentary feels a bit second division, but it's great they've got the perceptive Jarrod Kimber on there (he's a bit of a Sri Lankan specialist, if I remember correctly)

SL require 301 and are 14/1.

                          Make that 16 for 2

Kimber is married to a Sri Lankan and has spent a good deal of time there.

                              That Angelo Mathews tho.

                              England need to take 5-80.

Great win. I'd like to say I got up especially more early than normal to "watch" it on the internet but my old pal Insomnia would argue with that.

Stats you never thought you'd come across:

England win the Test match which has the record number of wickets falling to spin (38).

The last time England won a test without a pace bowler getting a wicket was Old Trafford, 1956 - Laker (19) and Lock (1).

                                      Anderson out, Broad in
                                      SCurran out, Bairstow in

Burns, Jennings, Bairstow, Root*, Stokes, Buttler, Ali, Foakes, Rashid, Leach, Broad

The series win will move England up to second in the Test rankings ahead of South Africa and behind India.

                                        Bairstow is batting at 3?

Well, that's often been the problem position for England, and he's one of our best batters. Worth giving it a try in a dead rubber, perhaps?

Perhaps weirder is the decision to replace Anderson with Broad - one player on the downward part of his career with another - rather than bringing Woakes in for the final Test.

No I think it is worth giving it a try. My question was actually just that, a question. Is he batting at 3? I guess so.

Both openers out cheaply, but the old favourite Root/Bairstow partnership has taken England over 100 at lunch

Root has now won 8 test match tosses in a row
