Hannover is a relatively modest 1.3 miles, and Dresden and Leverkusen 0.9 miles (all from the respective hbf's), but as you suggest they are exceptions. They tend to be built in areas containing huge swathes of recreational and park land - Dresden and to an extent Hannover still comply with this, but just happen to have their park areas closer to the centre.

Stockport station to Edgeley Park clocks in at 0.6 of a mile. What you might consider to be the centre of Burnley to Turf Moor is 0.5 miles, but the various railway stations are well out of the centre of town.

Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach (3.5 miles) illustrate how that general principle holds true even for small cities. Hoffenheim is a bit of a different case, as the ground is in a different municipality.

In contrast to the men's team's 0.3 miles, Ipswich Town Women play at Felixtowe and Walton United's ground, 11.3 miles away.

Wrexham's nearest active turnstile is 0.2 miles from Wrexham General station. It would have been less than that when the Kop was open - as that's the end closest to the station.
The footbridge at Barkingside tube station offers a decent view of the pitch at Oakside. Unfortunately, Barkingside FC sold it to Redbridge and the walk from the station is at least a quarter of a mile.

If we're going outside the four divisions, Lancaster City's Giant Axe is 0.2 miles from Lancaster station.

Presumably Cambridge Utd will now be much closer to the new Cambridge North station

The nearest station to FC Vaduz is in a different country (Sevelen, 1.58 miles).

ad hoc, they're on different sides of the river - so it's still 1.6 miles to walk.

edit - though a footbridge should be up at some point...

That list gives 907 metres from Valley Parade to Forster Square station, but I reckon only Carlisle fans would arrive at that station and it's probably the same distance again to the Interchange

                                Useful, but Anglocentric.

Victoria Park is just over a hundred yards from Dingwall station, as the satellite map on this page shows:

And it's only another 100 yards or so from the General to Regent Street which I think most of us would consider as part of the town centre.

Shrewsbury's New Meadow is a round 2.0 miles from the Old Market Hall in the middle of the loop of the river.

But if the main train station is taken to be the centre of various cities, then Sants Estació, for example, has moved what is considered to be the centre of Barcelona quite some distance.

It largely doesn't work for major European cities by definition, as such cities had their stations built around what was then around the centre.

Telford's ground is 4.7 miles away from Telford Town Park. But that's because it's in Wellington, which used to be it's own place and not part of Telford.

And Barcelona's main station used to be Estació de França, which is much closer than Sants.

In bizarre coincidence news, our family was just discussing the renaming of Estació de França to Barcelona Termino under Franco.
