    Reading have sacked Paul Clement

I think we missed Cambridge sacking Joe Dunne at the weekend as well

It was so predictable that it barely registered.

Good news that Reading have got rid of the pedestrian Paul Clement, likewise former chief exec Ron Gourlay. Not sure what's next, though.

Clement, along with Sam Rush, is an absolute bell-end. Sacked Eric Steele, one of the best GK coaches that this country has ever produced, after he had pledged loyalty to Derby when Mac was off to Newcastle then the club sacked Eric's wife who used to organise travel for the club. Wankers.

Then we can look at the Wasserman Media Group connections as they were Clems agents and under his tenure we spent a lot of money and gave out very nice contracts to a lot of WMG players.

So possibly bent wankers as well.

Not that I hold a grudge or anything.

In September, Clement’s Reading gave one of the most breathtakingly cynical performances I’ve ever seen at Griffin Park.

Time-wasting from the start, at one point they managed to delay a free-kick being taken for fully 5 minutes. The ball was in play for just 35 minutes of the 90.

              He’s an utter disgrace.

Not the manager everyone expected that's for sure. Probably emphasises more than anyone that a stellar coaching career doesn't mean you can organise a team.

He's available now, if Manchester United wanted a caretaker coach for a few months...

Possibly unconfirmed reports suggest Wednesday have sacked Luhukay

Carvalhal left last Christmas Eve. On that basis being fired on December 21st seems slighty humane

Good. Thanks for, well, nothing much really. Timing is weird, especially given that we had a fans forum the other night where the chairman justified why we kept him.

It doesn't alter the fundamental structural problems at the club, we need a big sale to comply with FFP, we have an ageing squad and there is no obvious long term strategy.

The new manager is likely to be Steve Bruce, though not until the new year. Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence are expected to be appointed to the coaching staff in advance of this. We've got a lot of very winnable fixtures in January and February so he'll need to hit the ground running.

Steve “ The Excuse” Bruce has his script ready made for his inevitable dismissal in 18 months time wot with his Blade roots n that. Commiserations to the owls on here.

No-one's really that fussed about that to be honest, it was a single season twenty years ago, it's not like he's heavily associated with the club like, say, Warnock. Also we're not as precious as the other lot when they squealed about getting Nigel Clough because he'd played two games on loan for us.

We weren’t either but he, his family and press mates played the card after he’d been sacked. He should’ve been sacked months earlier for general crapness, if anything his imaginary Geordie roots kept him in work longer than was justified. I’m sure his blue roots were mentioned after he left Villa. I had nowt against the feller before or during his SOL reign but his constant rewriting of history since changed that.
He’s a tacticless bullshitter. No player will improve under his regime. After his sacking his Blade background will be span as part of the reason for his failure.
                                            Sorry.

Monday: Gavin Skelton (brother of telly's Helen) leaves his coaching role at Carlisle United to become Workington manager for the third time.

Friday: John Sheridan resigns as manager of Carlisle.

Saturday: Workington draw 1-1 at Stafford Rangers and Skelton announces his resignation after the match.

Lots of speculation around the circumstances of Sheridan's resignation and the acceptance thereof by the club. One theory surrounds his very public falling out with two of our senior (and most popular) players on Boxing Day.

Another is that Chesterfield have offered him a substantial increase in pay to keep them up.

Though approx 90% of the fan base have decided it's because he's not been backed by the board with regard to January signings.

I'm not in the 90% but if it's for any of the three reasons above, then good riddance.

re Bruce, it seems odd to appoint a guy who's in recuperation from surgery for the next 4 weeks. If he were Alex Ferguson, fair enough, but Bruce?

Maybe they felt that that was the only way they could get him before somebody else did.
