Aphrodite's Child and Thor lead the charge on band names.

Apparently Thor were previously called Centaur, doubling their points.

Those US DJs were as promiscuous as ours, so, more than likely.

Candida - Tony Orlando & Dawn
                  Heart-Shaped Pox - Nirvana
Between the Warts - Billy Bragg

Seeing as I'm the only one who does 'em round here (and yes, I get why that might be, thanks):

                          Medusa - Anthrax

                          Not only, but also:

                          Xanadu - Rush

Let's not forget the mighty Xanadu by ELO and Olivia Newton-John. Not to mention Legend of Xanadu by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.

On a 'mythical places' tip, anything by the Shangri-Las. I've actually just bought a couple of albums by Aberystwyth-based band The Lowland Hundred, named for a translation of Cantre'r Gwaelod – which is the Welsh Atlantis, a mythical submerged land lost under the waters of Cardigan Bay.

                            Atlantis – The Shadows
                            Avalon – Roxy Music
Garden of Eden – Frankie Vaughan
                            Pandemonium – Killing Joke
Iron Lion Zion – Bob Marley
Bat Out of Hell – Meat Loaf
                            Heaven – Bryan Adams
                            Albion – Babyshambles

...although I did, further up this very page.

Reminds me for a small ad I wrote for the NMTB book: 'Dave Dee, Dozy, Mick & Tich seek new guitarist. Must be called Beaky.' (Something like that, anyway. Not quite as hilarious as I remember it.) As you were.
