‘Auf, auf zum Kampf, zum Kampf’ (‘Up, up, let’s fight’) by Brecht is a reaction to the murders of Rosa Luxembourg and Karl Liebknecht https://rosaluxemburgblog.wordpress....mpf-zum-kampf/

The title, 'Shoplifters of the World' by The Smiths is an allusion to The Communist Manifesto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worker...e_world,_unite!

The excellent "Les Brutes" by Trust.

[from wiki: "Les Brutes" (1980) describes the savage acts done by the Warsaw Pact military forces at the Prague Spring in Czechoslovakia, "H & D" (1979), with "H & D" standing for "Hôpital & Débiles" ("Asylum & Psychos"), accuses the Soviet Union and its secret services (KGB) of suppressing dissent by sending political opponents to psychiatric hospitals under fake diagnoses.]

Oh, all sorts of songs by bands and artists who had to suffer the reality of communism with all it's evil and horrors. Strangely those with direct experience tend towards being, shall we say, very uncomplimentary about this form of politics. cf. Karel Kryl. And here is one for you to listen to, with a page that gives a reasonable translation (you might need to click to switch to English from Polish) to give a fair idea of the allusive nature of this take:-

                            The Internationale, obviously.

Billy Bragg's done a version, but my favourite is in French on a post-68 Chansons révolutionnaires LP
