Swedish Democrats record 17.7% tonight - still too high, of course, but below poll expectations, and both the Social Democrats and Moderates finish comfortably ahead.

The similar in canton Ticino had an interesting effect, a tiny amount of Burqua wearing women have been caught out but a much greater number of football/hockey ultras with face covering garments have been arrested because if it...

One would have thought that Franco had permanently inoculated Spain against the far-right, but it seems Vox are poised to enter the Spanish parliament - predictably, their support comes largely from PP and Ciudadanos voters.

Italian MEP Angelo Ciocca, from the far-right League party, stormed to the front of the room at the end of Tuesdays press conference, snatched the commissioners papers, took off his shoe and pounded them with it.
An MEP who banged his Made in Italy shoe on top of a stack of papers in the European Parliament isnt funny because the episode could be the beginning of the road to fascism, European Commissioner Pierre Moscovici warned Wednesday. Referring to an episode that occurred at a press conference during which the Commission announced its unprecedented decision on Tuesday to issue a negative opinion on Romes budgetary plans, Moscovici urged Europeans to stay alert because democracy is a fragile treasure.

There's been a long tradition of overt sympathy for Fascism in post-Franco Spain. There are still symbols of Falangism everywhere you go. Both of the largest Madrileño football teams have visible neo-Nazi ultras groups and the Falangists were very visible during the constitutional crisis of 2017. There are squatted neo-nazi "social centres" in Madrid and Zaragoza which provide a nexus for far-right organising and violent, often fatal attacks on leftists, people of colour and lgbt people.
That article says that 40% of people believe PP represent the "extreme right" and 23% believe Ciudadanos do - so it's not like the Franco sympathisers haven't had electoral representation since 1977 when the Falangists last won a seat.Last edited by Bizarre Löw Triangle; 05-11-2018, 15:34.
