Burnley get Aberdeen. I get my passport ready, Skyscanner open to find flights and we get... Aberdeen. No disrespect meant to them, but I was kind of hoping to have to get on a plane to the away leg.

Well you can pretty much get to most places in Europe by train..... Aberdeen is a mere 341 miles from burnley. That's 30 miles nearer than amsterdam, or about the same distance as Brussels.

Rangers might struggle against Osijek, if they get through that far. Oh no, I forgot, Gerrard can conjure up one of 'those nights at Anfield' by his very wrinkled-forehead presence.

                      Clarets allocated 2,030 away tickets.

That is incredibly disappointing. I know there will be Understandable Reasons but Aberdeen can’t be expecting a sellout surely?

I strongly suspect Burnley are getting 2000 tickets for Pittodrie because that's what we all get as visitors. Even the Netherlands for a recent Scotland game played up there.

That's the capacity of the segregated away fans area in the South Stand. That's what every visiting team is given - Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Hearts or Hamilton Accies.
And yes, it may very well be a sell out on the night.

Went to Cefn Druids 1-1 FK Trakai at Oswestry tonight. The home side played well, fluffed a couple of great opportunities but took the lead just after the break and looked like they might hang on, but bustling substitute Etienne Mukanya (a Belgian who Transfermarkt suggests was once at Grays) had given the visitors some more impetus up front and after 86” the pressure told and Lithuanian international Kazlauskas scored with a shot that went in off the post. Still a good result, but unlikely to be enough for them to progress.

Ah, I understand. I saw 4500 mentioned as a potential but I assume that is just mad Twitter bollocks.

Away ticket details announced. Even as a season ticket holder for the last five years I’m not even close to enough points to get a sniff.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend going to the return leg if you can. Trakai itself is a 30 minute bus ride out of Vilnius (which is where the team plays) and is famous for its medieval castle built on an island in a lake.

I also watched the Cefn Druids game last night. I don't see them winning in Lithuania next week, but at least they've scored unlike in their only previous European tie.

Got to agree that Trakai is well worth a visit, although I will be spending next Thursday in Rhyl watching Bala try to overturn a three goal deficit against the might of Tre Fiori.

I'll be at a leaving do (not mine, sadly) in Liverpool next Thursday so won't be enjoying either the delights of Trakai or the fish & chips at Rhyl.

The only place in Lithuania I've been to is Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit, which was absolutely beautiful - so I'm quite enticed by the description of Trakai. However it seems unlikely that any Lithuanian side is likely to be good enough to reach the Champions League group stage when I might have visited with Mrs Trlb as a plazzy Red, so I'll have to work out a different reason for visiting as she's unlikely to buy into the idea of going there to watch sub-Evostik standard football, no matter what competition it's in.

In European competition you are only allowed seated spectators. The Rock only has one fairly small stand, so it doesn't meet the minimum capacity requirements to host European games (there may be other less obvious requirements that it also falls down on).

Off the top of my head, in the North of Wales, Aberystwyth, Newtown, TNS, Bangor, Rhyl and Wrexham are able to host European ties. I think if a side got to the playoff round Wrexham would be the only suitable ground.
