Seems like just the other day that Kaiserslautern's relegation was confirmed, but they started their pre-season training camp in the Pfalz yesterday (they've done that a few times in recent years and need to cement local support more than ever this season) and turned up for a friendly in Weingarten this afternoon.
1000 people there, enjoying the summer sunshine and warming up for Germany's match later on. Lautern brought the full first-team squad and completely outclassed their hosts, as expected. It was really just an extended training session but the money generated will pay the bills in the B-Klasse for a few months, I guess.
Both sides used two completely different teams in each half (Weingarten having supplemented their squad with some guest players from other local clubs), and Lautern scored twenty-seven without reply, before Weingarten finished proceedings off with a lobbed finish from near the halfway line!
