Looks like rain, dear: Carabao Cup 2018-19

Quite a few changes to the League Cup for next season. Maybe with any luck we might even have draws without pulling the same team out twice or the stream going down...

    * No extra time, straight to penalties (except the Final)
    * All matches at Premier League grounds will use VAR
    * Penalties to revert to ABAB order
    * Rounds one and two will not be seeded, but round one will still be regionalised

    * No extra time, straight to penalties (except the Final) - Fine with that - if they're not going to bother with replays, might as well get rid of Extra Time too
    * All matches at Premier League grounds will use VAR - Can understand the reasoning, but I don't like it. Every game in a tournament should be played under the same rules.
    * Penalties to revert to ABAB order - Understandable, because it's simpler, although I still prefer the ABBA, as it was fairer
    * Rounds one and two will not be seeded, but round one will still be regionalised - Happy with that, I hate seeding in anything

I wonder if they will do all of the North draw first, then put the balls back in again to do the South draw, but forget to leave out 35 and 36. Or do it the other way around and forget to put 35 and 36 in for the North draw.

This year's novel draw format appears to be that they're not actually filming the draw and instead it's being communicated via the means of a live blog.

They've fucked something up, haven't they? Why are they taking so long to put 34 balls back in for the South?

I'm not at all suspicious of a two minute delay when there are only two teams left and we can't see anything, oh no.

Hmmm, apparently Norwich v Stevenage was drawn out just before Exeter v Ipswich but the blogger missed it.

So the draw was held in Vietnam just so the sponsors could flog their shit drink in the Asian market? FFS.

They should have used old clips of Denholm Elliott:

At least it's a home draw for Shrewsbury.

When is the first round. I might be in Shrewsbury that week. Not seen them in the league cup at home for donkeys.

Somewhere around the 14th of August but the actual dates and times aren't sorted yet. Presumably they will fix them after the EFL fixture lists are out? (Which happens tomorrow morning.)

They all say that at the moment don't they? I think it's a placeholder and the matches will be spread out over the week.
