He's had an awful lot of (mixed) loan action since, mostly in League One, but his move to Millwall was terminated quite quickly. Good luck to him and hope he gets some regular playing time.

I hadn't realised that Josh Murphy had joined Cardiff this week for £10m. That's a fair sum for a player who shows flashes of brilliance, has lightning pace, but is often prone to inconsistency, poor decision making, plus the occasional strop. He'll be remembered for some spectacular goals though.

That is all but one of the Youth Cup winning side gone now. When you add up all the player sales Norwich have made since 2016 (not including James Maddison's likely and pricey departure) plus two years of parachute money, we are only just about breaking even despite a colossal amount of cash coming in. Scary.

Another Brazilian goes to Real Madrid after just half a season of senior football. This time it’s 17 year-old Rodrygo of Santos and for the same €45m as Vinícius Júnior. Thankfully, he’ll stay at Santos for another year when he’ll be legally old enough to travel to Europe.

As good as Vinícius Jr? It’s hard to predict at that age, but quite possibly. He’s a much slighter build but has great balance and touch whereas Vinícius relies more on his physical strength. Rodrygo also looks to me like the more natural goalscorer.

So with Marcelo, Casemiro and these two, Real now looks to be the go-to destination for top-flight Brazilians.

Rumour is that Elliot Whitehouse has rejected Lincoln's offer of a new contract and will sign with Grimsby. *Enter Partridge-shrug.gif*

18 months with us and I still don't know what exactly his best position is. He seemed to be playing as an advanced midfielder to pick up second balls knocked back by Rhead. Still, thanks for the Wembley goal. He'll probably now turn out like Jon Nolan into a classy midfielder.

Arsenal sign Bernd Leno from Leverkusen as cover/replacement for Cech.
And Jack Wilshere, who in a parallel universe is captainng England in Russia while Jordan Henderson relaxes on a beach somewhere, has confirmed he is leaving, after learning Unai Emery has no plans to build a team around him.

James Maddison is set to join Leicester City from Norwich for around £20m. He's a class act with a good attitude and never rocked the boat about any potential move. I hope he does extremely well.

Marley Watkins has also left Carrow Road for Bristol City. £1m is decent for a player who joined on a free transfer but had a poor season. The fact Watkins was played out of position at times didn't help, but given that he came with lots of promise, it's a shame it didn't work out.

Lincoln sign Michael O' Conner following his release from Notts County. Recall him being on loan almost a decade ago, where he looked a class above anyone else we had. Heard he's suffered from injuries recently, hence we've only signed him for one year.

O'Connor was decent for Scunny in the Championship, had a good time at Rotherham too, surprised he's only 30, will do well 8f he stays fit

Carlisle have signed Gary Miller (ex-Plymouth) and former loanee Macaulay Gillesphey (ex-Newcastle).

We now have 11 senior players, although none of them are goalies.

Tisdale has started his raid on Exeter's squad, picking up skipper Jordan Moore-Taylor. Some on our fans forum are appalled, because who could have predicted that a manager would want to sign his former players? He was only supposed to be "OUT", not "in a new job, not giving a toss about the old one".

Anyway, who holds the record for the largest influx of players from the club he just left? (sorry, channeling Guardian Knowledge ... )

Are we including non-league in that? Because close to entire squads have followed managers at that level. Pretty easy when just seven days notice is all that is required to change clubs at some levels.
To give an example of this, Graham Westley infamously took the a large number of players with him when he left Farnborough for Stevenage. Farnborough essentially never recovered from this and folded (and reformed) a few years after Westley's departure. Given that Farnborough had earned a large chunk from playing Arsenal in an FA Cup tie switched to Highbury just before Westley left, that they were in such financial straits so soon was rather surprising and goes a long way towards Westley's very poor reputation amongst fans of non-league clubs.

I'm sure a request along the lines of 'are youse happy to play rush keeper? Last man back can handle it?' as we used to do in park games would work

Looks like the George Hirst situation is finally going to resolve itself at Wednesday. For those not familiar with the story, he scored absolutely shedloads of goals for the junior sides and is on the England scene to the extent that he was top scorer at Toulon last year. He then had some form of contract dispute with the club - unclear how much this was down to the club and how much having his head turned by England players - and the chairman wouldn't allow him to be picked for the first team last season, indeed it wasn't until February that he appeared for the development squad.

Anyway he's now apparently signed for OH Leuven in the Belgian second tier. Bit of an odd place on the face of it, but they're managed by Nigel Pearson. A look at their website produces a King Power logo on the page footer. Are they a feeder club for Leicester in some form?

It looks as if Alex Smithies is leaving QPR for Cardiff. Much weeping and wailing from residents of the Loft. He is a very good goalie, considered the best in the Championship by many of our fans. His leaving isn't that much of a surprise TBH, the reported price is though. £4 million is low, but probably his buyout price and we're in absolutely no position to refuse reasonable offers. Unless someone else comes in for him and starts a bidding war Colin's got himself a very good deal. On the plus side we have two good younger back-ups, one of whom would have had to leave if Smithies stayed.

James Hanson anyone? Striker signed for Wimbledon after an unimpressive 18 months with Sheffield United including a loan spell with Bury but seemed to have been OK with Bradford prior.

He's 6' 4" so looks to be the target man that was missing all last season.

Abu Ogogo has Ogonegone from Shrewsbury to Coventry. Junior Brown (first choice left back til he did his cruciate in last year) has also gone to Coventry and Shrewsbury have signed, er, the Coventry left back.

If you have someone up alongside Hanson who is quick and able to anticipate which bit of his head the ball's going to bounce off then you'll be fine.

That's the plan I think, hopefully a fit Kwesi Appiah fits the bill.

Sadly, Lyle Taylor confirmed he is off yesterday. Charlton seems the likely destination but Sunderland are still also rumoured to be in with a shout.
