I realise that lots of people will have their own reasons for not wanting Liverpool to win, but surely you’d have to have a withered, pea-sized heart to be happy seeing Sergio Ramos lifting the cup with a shit-eating grin - wouldn’t you?

Does There Have To Be A Winner? - Real Madrid v Liverpool, CL Final

I see Liverpool pressing and dominating Real Madrid for long periods of the match. In fact, i struggle to see Madrid not getting battered like Man City did. However i can't help but feel that when the final whistle goes everyone in red will be on the pitch looking bemused as to how they lost.

Gooo to see that one disinterred after it’s excellent Euro 2016 but my earlier ones came from a dedicated Liverpool account:

This thing is, I’m not sure they think the banners are notable for the same reason the rest of us do.

I wasn't watching this but now I have been invited to by some mates who I fancy a pint with. There is no way I want Real Madrid to win but, of course, I love Bale. I have several friends and relations that support Liverpool - at least one of whom that comes from within a bus ride from Liverpool itself. I also haven't seen this Kloppe/Salah Liverpool so am intrigued by that. Aah, fuck it, I don't know.
I must point out that this is, by far, not the most "Can't both teams lose?" Champions' League Final. The 2007/8 Manchester United/Chelsea one was probably the most as was proven as their FA Cup final this year was similar. While the Milan/Juventus didn't initially seem so, as the match went on, it definitely became so.Last edited by Bored Of Education; 25-05-2018, 21:59.

I think I would like to see Liverpool win, as my brother and dad are/were fans. But I would also like to see them lose, as a lot of my friends are Toffees and there's nothing funnier than a Scouser abroad crying into his shit banner. Real were Franco's team, so they are bad, but the history is sort of uncertain on the extent of his influence. And I love/love GarethBale11.
I'm taking 24s on a 0-0 borefest on Betfair, by the way.

Those banners...
Still I'll be hoping Liverpool win (or rather that Real Madrid lose). On the one hand you have got the club that disgustingly supported Suarez's racism, and then there is Klopp who I find in equal parts pathetic, entertaining, and embarrassing. Plus the fucking banners. But then there is Sergio Ramos. Plus as I think Jonathan Wilson pointed out on FW recently, three wins in a row make them some kind of team for the ages and they're really not all that are they?

Match prediction: I fear that Liverpool peaked over the two legs against Man City. They achieved the near perfect blend of attacking prowess and defensive competence/luck in those games, and have looked more ragged since - occasionally still breathtaking charging forward, but definitely looking leggy and tired and error-prone in the last 20 minutes of games.
I fancy them to start strongly, score first, maybe give away a daft equaliser and then score a second and maybe a third as they exploit the space behind Marcelo. But they'll be hanging on to that from a good way out, and a team as experienced as Madrid will find holes, and barring some wastefulness on their part I can see them pulling level or even winning it in the dying minutes of the 90. I guess I'm going out to watch it expecting to feel excited, proud, anxious and ultimately heartbroken. And wanting to push Sergio Ramos under a train.
Most of all though, I've got a good lot of mates out there and I want there to be no problems around the match and for them to have a safe day out that doesn't get spoiled by any dickheads.

Come on youuu superblancos! Currently in pub, having been here since the start of the Exeter Saracens game, waiting for Duncan Gardner who has promised to grace us with his presence tonight. Villa lost - a great start to the evening. I'm not confident at all about this game though.Last edited by Jon; 27-05-2018, 00:18.
