    Theresa May's Numeracy Test

Our fragrant First Lord of the Treasury has espoused the importance of numeracy for the youth of today and tomorrow.

Apparently, this has been used as an example of the skills one will need.

What are the next pairs of numbers in this series?

    18,19
    28,29
    38,39
    79,80
    81,82

    ? , ?
    ? , ?
    ? , ?

(Pairs of consecutive numbers in which the last letter of the first is the same as the first letter of the second: eg; Twenty-eighT Twenty-nine)

It's not really a numeracy test, though is it? Where did it come from?

Which is the question I was posing - it's a literacy test

I believe it's come from the office of the Prime Minister as an example of the sort of thing our children should be being taught.

                  (Presumably alongside learning Roman numerals)

I guessed that it was a history test, but I couldn't work out a common theme for those winters.

Christ. That's like a really poor imitation of an Only Connect question. In context, utterly imbecilic.
