    John D.McDonald?

I started reading his novel "Cape Fear" today. It is gripping!

Is anyone here a fan of him?

If so, could you tell me which of his I should read after this?

Oh, man. These were my dad's favorite books. The Travis McGee series specifically, which all have colours in the title (The Scarlet Ruse, One Fearful Yellow Eye, etc.) I can't say I've ever picked one up. He was also into Hammond Innes and Nevil Shute, if that's of any help.

They're quite prevalent in mid to late 20th century crime/thrillers, these writin' McDonalds, what with John D., Fletch man Gregory and, the undisputed champion, Ross with-an-a.

He wrote a huge amount of quality pulp fiction - Cape Fear being a good example - but the Travis McGee series is head and shoulders above anything he, or most other authors, have written.
