"If the PM of this country cannot have her portrait on a wall there, who else can?” @SamGyimah on why a picture of Theresa May was taken down by the University of Oxford after being plastered by critical messages over #Windrush
      Yeah, that's the issue. Graffiti.

Javid says 63 people have been removed from the UK but investigations continue. It also does include those refused reentry.

Some audacity to use #EndTheHostileEnvironment on a pledge to tackle illegal immigration tbf

What Labour mean when they say "End the hostile environment" is "we're going to take the functions of border policing that New Labour/Tories pushed out to the private sector and bring them back in house", or, more simply "nationalise racism".

"Border Guards"? They're going to be sat in towers with rifles?

Every day I pray your idiocy on immigration doesn’t hit over here. Unlike Berba I don’t think this is a colour blind paradise in Ireland, I’ve heard so much casual racism from work/friends/lobster like flatmates over the years I don’t think Ireland is different at all. But the only time I remember open courting of racism here by the main political parties (outside of frothy councilors or Maverick TDs) was during the Blood and Soil Immigration and citizenship referendum.

The media isn’t quite as horrific (the Mail tones down in Ireland, just as the Sun is pro immigration in Scotland) though the Indo still dog whistles to shit.

But we’ve got Irish travellers to be openly bigoted about even in the Dail. The worst most brutal parts of Irish racism, like direct provision, mostly happen in the shadows (and direct provision probably continues mostly out of fear of the backlash should they all be housed “in the community” rather than a rotten old holiday camp or worse. And cos the Deparmtent of Justice is almost as full of shitbags at the top as the Home Office).

If and when the media and some of the parties openly court Legitimate Concerns like Big Island, this place will be fucked.

The sheer volume of sadistic cunts working in the immigration administrations of the US and UK is genuinely staggering.

Not mad myself Ad Hoc, this policy was endorsed by a majority of the British electorate as the political discourse of every election I have remembered over the 45 years I have been alive. Successive governments have ratcheted up their immigration policy.
Casual conversations with British people inform me that a "tough" immigration policy is what people want, the government are just responding to this.
