    I was there.... but I didn't care

This is a thread inspired by an interview I once read with Bob Geldof where he said he had no interest in football and was only ever at two games in his life, one of which was the 1982 world cup final!
My own case was in 1989 when I happened to be in Paris on the day Greg Lemond beat Laurent Fignon to win the tour de France by the smallest ever margin. I wasn't particularly interested in cycling at the time and was just there to cheer on Sean Kelly and Martin Earley and we went off for something to eat and drink without realising the historic significance of what we'd watched
A couple of years ago a friend of mine got a corporate ticket to Ireland v England in the rugby and spent the whole game in the beer tent watching soccer Saturday and chatting to the barman about football
    Anyone else?
Working...
