More mysterious fires in old Weegie buildings... wonder if someone was looking to develop the site and couldn’t be arsed refurbing a Victorian block. Really hope the fire doesn’t spread to the Pavillion theatre. At least the worst nightclub in existence is no more.

Now where will players from the ugly sisters go to pull underage girls? (allegedly)

There really isn'y any need for developers to torch listed buildings in Glasgow - the council is so piss-poor at making the owners look after them properly that all you've got to do is neglect them for a few years and then pull them down before they fall down.

Also, similar to the Glasgow School of Art fire a few years ago, the Pav is fortunate that Scotland's biggest fire station is less than a mile up the road.

It’s as well it’s under control, I’d bet a tidy sum on the hideous Premier Inn on the next Sauchiehall St block (the old St Andrews House office block) as being one of the private buildings in Glasgow affected by bullshit fire friendly cladding material (that apart from the awful “luxury flats” at Glasgow Harbour, still haven’t been publically identified). The pisspoor plastic grey cladding probably isn’t from the top drawer, could have been a 16 storey chimney.
