Westmeath will also fancy their chances at home to Armagh, one suspects.

From a football feast to a comparative famine:
Munster SFC: Kerry v Clare
Even ardent Kerry fans hardly know what to expect from the Kingdom this summer - seven debutants this weekend include the promising Shane Murphy and David Clifford, but the case for the defence remains unproven, as Lang Spoon might say. Should be comfortable on Sunday, but the Super 8s will tell the true tale.
Connacht SFC: Galway v Sligo
After boring the nation to tears in Castlebar, Galway should have little bother overcoming the Yeats Countymen.
Ulster SFC: Monaghan v Fermanagh
Malachy O'Rourke's side produced a performance of flair and free-taking excellence against Tyrone a few weeks ago, and while Fermanagh impressed against the Orchard County, Monaghan should have enough experience and skill to book an Ulster final berth.
Hurling - Munster SHC: Cork v Limerick
The Rebels could well be Championship dark horses, beating Clare handily, and impressive against Tipp despite squandering a nine-point lead. Limerick also played well against the Premier, but home advantage may swing it for Cork.
Munster SHC: Tipp v Waterford
Do or die for the home side, as anything less than a win would kibosh any Munster final aspirations. Waterford were thoroughly dismantled last week in Ennis, and this again looks a bridge too far.
Leinster SHC: Wexford v Galway
Wexford Park has proven a mini-fortress for the Model County under Davy Fitz, but the Tribesmen have been supreme in their first two Championship outings, and an away win is highly fancied here.
Leinster SHC: Dublin v Offaly
Offaly could earn the dubious honour of being relegated from the Leinster Championship (replaced by the Joe McDonagh winners) if they lose to the Dubs this weekend. Parnell Park really levelled the playing field against Kilkenny, and boosted by the Cuala contingent, the Dubs should win comfortably.Last edited by Diable Rouge; 02-06-2018, 08:17.

Awesome performance by Galway as they crush a handy looking Wexford by 9 points, 1.23 to 0.17, they're beginning to look like the Dublin of the hurling world. Only worry would be the knee injury suffered by top forward Joe Canning late on

Dublin finally cut loose but Offaly were awful today, they threw in the towel from early, can't see us getting anything out of the Galway game but at least we're still in the championship next year .
Waterford playing great stuff against Tipperary at the moment,10 ahead with 15 to go

Arlene Foster congratulates her countymen - unlikely she'll rock up to Clones in a Treacy Concrete replica, but stranger things have happened!

Unfortunately no congrats for Fermanagh's goalkeeping greats (McGovern, Carroll, and er Peacock-Farrell's granda) as Mikey's misfits were thrashed 3-0 by Costa Rica.
Arlene's home village is within walking distance of Clones. You only have to cross the border 6 times to get there
Politically, she might as well be in a Treacy Concrete overcoatLast edited by Duncan Gardner; 04-06-2018, 11:57.

Football:
Leinster SFC: Carlow vs Laois
The last time Carlow qualified for a Leinster final, the D-Day landings had just occurred, which highlights the county's minnow status. Laois won both D4 encounters between the sides this year, and should make it a triple on Sunday.
Dublin v Longford:
Similarly, Longford last made the provincial semis in the year of the Seoul Olympics, but have carved a reputation as qualifier giant-killers. Dublin will breeze through, with the margin the only variable.
Ulster SFC: Donegal v Down
Thankfully, it's been a season of football shocks so far, with Fermanagh perhaps the biggest one to date. Still, Donegal have been free-flowing to date, and should prevail by six.
Round One Qualifiers:
Waterford v Wexford
Limerick v Mayo
London v Louth
Wicklow v Cavan
Offaly v Antrim
Westmeath v Armagh
Derry v Kildare
Meath v Tyrone

Leinster SHC: Dublin v Galway
The first-ever provincial dead rubber, but Galway will want to lay down a marker for the final.
Kilkenny v Wexford:
Now effectively a traditional semi, and evenly-balanced, but home advantage may swing it for the Cats.
Munster SHC: Clare v Tipperary
Last chance saloon for the Premier, who are the first Southern county to complete their schedule. The Banner have impressed in both outings, and may just secure a top three berth on Sunday.
Limerick v Waterford:
A young Limerick side have played with brio in both outings so far, and a win here will move them significantly nearer a Munster final.
