The show will return in 2018, as confirmed by Ant & Dec at the end of the Coming Out show on 15 December 2017. It is the first series in a new two-year contract.

It's very much contractual, but I'd imagine:
a) there would be a severance clause and
b) there would be a D&D insurance policy in place which would cover the production company for any loss of profit / advance payments made
In any event Dec would be fine.

It's possible. I don't watch it but if they're not the producers of the show (often individually named in the UK) then they will more than likely own the production company.
Which raises a number of interesting legal questions, especially from an insurance POV.
But then again I'm on gardening leave.
