No such phenomenon in France (Koch Brothers etc.), all these néo-réacs have emerged organically (as a result of the neoliberal revolution of 1980-90) and symbiotically with a media system that needs them and feeds off them, and vice-versa. The rise of the Front National and the hard right have hugely boosted their profiles (and bank accounts).

Incidentally, and very succinctly as I need to go and watch the CL highlights, these neo nazi groups I’ve just mentioned (that endorse Camus’s and Orban’s Great Replacement claptrap) have been pretty active in the last month in France. In Paris last week, the GUD attacked pupils and teachers of a self-managed high school while making nazi salutes; in Marseille, the on-going problems with the year-old Bastion Social – a merger between a local group of the ultra-right royalists Action Française and a GUD sub-branch – have continued apace; at Montpellier Law school two weeks ago, a dozen of heavily-armed GUD members (nailed batons, base-ball bats, stun guns) are strongly suspected of having attacked a group of 50 students who were peacefully occupying an amphitheatre to protest against Macron’s university reforms. 4 students were hospitalised, 2 of them with serious head injuries. The dean of the law faculty and (at least) one law professor were in on it and the latter was even part of the attack and hit a few students himself! (Both the dean – who resigned the day after – and the professor – suspended – have been charged).

Surprised to discover that there are 10,000 Hungarians resident in Ireland - tiny given the Magyar total of 10 million, but presumably ex-pats would be more left-leaning than their domestic counterparts.

BBC report didn't mention Orban's anti-Semitism. Or make clear quite how few refugees Hungary was ever going to take.

Europe Elects have an "on-day polling" seat projection:

                  Fidesz 124
                  Jobbik 33
                  Socialists 20
                  LMP 9
                  DK 9

Well there's a surprise. I'm surprised that they didn't say that many right thinking people close to Andew Neil and Nigel Farage see Orban's policies as a bastion against a Muslim takeover of Europe

That's a guess based on turnout and nothing else, right? I'm not taking that too seriously.

I think even the opposition would take a result where Fidesz were to be reduced to 103 seats:

                                    Actual results in now:

                                    Fidesz 49.5%
                                    Jobbik 20.3%
                                    Socialists 12%
                                    LMP 7%
                                    DK 5%

Also looks like Orban has a two-thirds majority and can change the constitution.

Erdoğan won the majority of votes from ex pats in every European country bar the UK, so not necessarily so.

There's also a concern for the growth of the Polish far right in the UK but not sure how big they are.

Some distressing news about Polish language schools in the UK

A number of Polish community schools in Britain have been accused of having connections with groups and individuals associated with the far right.
