Shouty Pacino was born with Scarface. How he got an Oscar for Hoo-Haing, and nothing for his wonderfully understated performance in Donnie Brasco would be a mystery, in a normal world where members of the Academy aren't idiots.

Even though he was shouty, I enjoyed him in Phil Spector.

Adam Sandler's face is plastered all over my Netflix, which might just be a reflection of my, or more likely, the little Anoraks' viewing habits. But if we go with the idea that he's a major actor based on that, I'd say there's a huge gulf between all his work and The Meyerowitz Stories.

          You're forgetting Punch Drunk Love.

Robin Williams ought to be on this thread.

The alimony means he can't afford to say no anymore, so I'd call mitigating circumstances on that one.

Brian Cox only seems to be in shite these days. But he can be brilliant when he’s not playing fuckin Churchill, or thinly drawn sinister character. In Manhunter he wipes the floor with HamMaster Hopkins’ ridiculous Lecter. He’s astonishing in L.I.E., the best thing in that Ed Norton is going to Jail melodrama.

You’ll want to skip the Mad Max issue.

“The 25th Hour” (Brian Cox as Ed Norton’s dad, dir. Spike Lee, his 2 nd film with an all- white cast, I think)
