    Possible record-breaking-snowman melting thread

So, denizens of the Mundane Thread know that some teenaged kids in my village constructed a huge 10m+ snowman without any form of machinery (specifically, just shovelling, climbing with ladders, and in some cases finding more snow in other parts of the village and bringing it to the main square by horse cart). Here it is:

Now we have bids on when this will have totally melted (defined as the last piece of snow disappearing from the spot where the snowman is). I'm starting a new thread because I know I'l never be able to find it in the Mundane thread.

That's wonderful (the snowman). Well done all concerned. I don't know the first thing about Transylvanian weather but I'll go for 5th May as it's my mother's 90th birthday.

            6th March for me please.

Likewise, I'd like to say that this is the result of in-depth analysis of Transylvanian meteorological data, but it's another family birthday led selection.

Having cast the runes, studied the tea leaves and held a wet finger up to find out whatever it is that holding up a wet finger tells you, I'll go for a family birthday/wedding anniversary double-up date: April 19th.

28th February. There's going to be a warm wind. (Or some fucker is going to destroy it.)

Actually there has been a decided rise in temperatures the last two days. We're above zero at the moment. But I suspect 28th Feb is optimistic.

That's an awesome bit of work by the kids there.

Banked-up and compacted snow melts incredibly slowly unless there's a dramatic increase in temperature and lots of rain; so I'm going to say halfway through April (15th to be precise).

Yes I think a lot will depend on how much rain we get.

                                    Yeah, I'm in.

Assuming that we're talking the absolute last visible evidence - May 14th.

                                          I'll bite: 25th of February. It would've been my grandfather's 115th birthday...

Either way, we need to race the Székely Snowman against the Nenana Ice Classic. I think the Alaskan operation is more sophisticated, though the tripod clearly hasn't been planted as yet.

I think it's a piece of wood. The buttons are definitely slices of a log, painted black
