England's redemption Down Under? Aus ODIs & NZ Tour 2018

First ODI reaching a conclusion and England are going to cruise to a win. What a strange team we are.

Roy did have a colossal amount of luck though. Could have been very different if one of his edges had been caught early on.

NZ Test series tend to be tight affairs. Conditions are a leveller. I would not put money on either way.

Affray is a relatively mild charge compared to some of the possible ones discussed, no?

            Affray

An offence under section 3 is triable either way. The maximum penalty on conviction on indictment is 3 years' imprisonment and/or a fine of unlimited amount. On summary conviction the maximum penalty is 6 months' imprisonment and/or a fine not exceeding level 5
            .

Stokes is being tried in the Magistrates' Court so six months or a fine is the maximum.

Without predicting the result of any trial, the ECB should suspend him for the summer season. For everyone's good

He's suspended indefinitely anyway. Just continue with that suspension until the trial. He will need to start playing some other cricket soon, though, for form purposes, not just T20 bashes.

I think he should be away from the England sides for the next 9 months even if cleared quickly. For his own good most of all

                      Ha ha.
He should just (re-)declare for NZ.

The ECB have made Stokes available for selection again.

Isn't he in court in a month's time, albeit a foreign one?

Yes, and he won't be playing in the T20 against New Zealand

What have the ICC got against Bangladesh, who have no selections in their Test team of the year: Dean Elgar (South Africa), David Warner (Australia), Virat Kohli (India, capt), Steve Smith (Australia), Cheteshwar Pujara (India), Ben Stokes (England), Quinton de Kock (South Africa, wk), Ravichandran Ashwin (India), Mitchell Starc (Australia), Kagiso Rabada (South Africa), James Anderson (England)?

The BBC link above claims that his lawyers could get him excused from having to actually appear.

Excellent bowling performance from England so far, just need to keep the score down in the death overs.

Root has taken two, including Steve Smith no less.

England & Wales to chase 270. I think they would have easily settled for that at the start of the game.

45/1 from 7. Very solid start.

109-1 now. Hales and Bairstow dominant. Rashid taking wickets again, I see. Almost as if playing a proper leg-spinner in any form of the game might be a good idea.

Illustrated by the fact that Australia aren’t playing a recognised spinner at all, bizarrely.

Are they just not taking the one day series seriously?

19 and 20 were a strong couple of overs from Australia. Just three runs and a wicket between them.
