Two significant promotions in the English league system at the weekend, Coventry are returning to The Championship for the first time in nine years and London Welsh took the first step on their potential long journey back up the leagues by going up from Herts/Middlesex 1 to the eighth tier. I’m going to Old Deer Park on Saturday where they could clinch the title against Old Actonians.Last edited by Ray de Galles; 21-03-2018, 00:39.

Sinckler and Marler really do make Harlequins unlikable. A poor game at the old Olympic Stadium between them and Saracens.
It's a weekend of club rugby before the real one, the European quarter finals from Friday.

I've got Newcastle Northampton on, being played in from of 30k fans at St. James's Park. Not a bad game, much better than Saracens Harlequins.
Goniva scored a try and celebrated like Shearer, thought that was a nice touch.

London Welsh 55 Actonians 12
The visitors scored the first and last tries but Welsh managed nine in between. Too many of them early on from dull, grunt driving mauls but then they opened up and played all the rugby as Actonians fitness and discipline waned. A trophy at the end and ‘Cwm Rhondda’ & ‘We Are The Champions’ over the PA and sung with gusto by the players and a crowd of 412. A lovely afternoon.

La Rochelle have few players out as well, including their two All Blacks.
Really looking forward to this game.

Just watched Exeter beat Bath in the Anglo Welsh cup, it was played in monsoon like conditions in Gloucester. Now it's the preview of Scarlets La Rochelle and Llanelli looks positively tropical with no visible rain. Should be a cracking match.

The second half was much better and the Scarlets showed there is much more to them than fantastic turnover tries as they held out against La Rochelle pressure at 15-10 and promptly went up the other end to score.
It finished 29-17 with La Rochelle getting their only points of the second half with a converted try with the clock in the red after man of the match Ken Owens was stripped on the La Rochelle 5 metre line.
Leinster or Saracens await with the semi either in Dublin or Coventry. Neither will relish playing the Scarlets even though they'll be favourites.
Rumours say the WRU don't want Pivac or his team as the new coach, after this display I've no idea why as they've got everything. All on a playing budget of £4.5 million, which is a third of the big French and England teams. And that's before Saracens have massaged their figures.

Cardiff make their semi-final too, another fantastic defensive, counter-attacking display giving them a 6-20 win in Edinburgh. They kicked behind the home side’s rush defence for both their tries in the first half so the coaches did their jobs well with the analysis.

Leinster Saracens is being billed as Ireland England part two, it's on BT Sport this afternoon kicking off at 3.30. The winners play the Scarlets.
Munster squeezed past Toulon yesterday, Trinh-Duc came on and pulled Toulon back into the match. He then missed a crucial touch and Conway scored the winning try.

Finished 17-28. I can’t remember the last time I saw a game as good as that one, yet had it been in a Top 14 fixture it probably would have been a bit dull.
Racing were astounding and it was an absolute monster of a performance from Leone Nakawara in a wonderful display from their entire 23.
Wayne Barnes got it in the neck from the home crowd and may be lucky to get out of Auvergne unscathed but most of the key decisions were both brave and correct.Last edited by Ray de Galles; 01-04-2018, 14:11.

Would rather Saracens win this meaning Scarlets play them in Coventry in the semi rather than Leinster getting effectively another home tie at Lansdowne Road.Last edited by Ray de Galles; 01-04-2018, 15:16.
