Having watched most of Vikings and gone down a few wiki rabbit holes as a result, I’m very interested to read about the “Dark Ages,” particularly Anglo-Saxon Britain and the Vikings. Also books about the fall of Rome and the “barbarians” would be good. Nothing too into the academic weeds, just a good overview for the non-specialist. Historical fiction might be good too, but I’m more interested in
history and historiography. So much of that period is not known except through sagas, etc, so it’s interesting to learn how what knowledge there is has developed.
