Tennis 2018 YE singles ranking predictathon thread

OK, we're coming up to the start of the 2018 ATP and WTA tours, so time to get your predictions in for the year end rankings, specifically the top four in each contest, in order..

Let's have a slight adjustment to the scoring system I proposed last year, to accentuate the positive, by doubling the positive points as follows, in the hope that the final scores might bear less resemblance to those arising on the QI panel show:

Cumulatively, in each of the ATP and WTA predictions:
    - 10 plus points for getting the top 1 right
    - 10 plus points for your 1 and 2 being a perm of the actual 1 and 2
    - 10 plus points for your 1, 2 and 3 being a perm of the actual
    - 10 plus points for your 4 being a perm of the actual
    - 1 negative point for every degree of difference in actual and predicted position for each of your top 4 named players.

My meta-prediction is that, if as many people contribute to this thread as did for 2016 and 2017, we'll see more diversity than previously in people's ATP picks.

    Anyway, my predictions are:

    ATP

    1. A Zverev
    2. Murray
    3. Dimitrov
    4. Djokovic

    WTA

    1. S Williams
    2. Wozniacki
    3. Muguruza
    4. Barty

Looks as if those of us who tipped Murray for the top 4 will suffer for being early with our predictions...

Forgot about this... putting something in before the Aussie Open is acceptable, isn't it?

Anyway, fwiw, my tips are as follows

                ATP
                1. Federer
                2. Zverev
                3. Goffin
                4. Nadal

                WTA
                1. Wozniacki (still no slams, mind)
                2. Sharapova
                3. Halep (ditto #1)
                4. S.Williams (from only 6 tournaments)

Hope my late entry is accepted too

                  ATP
                  Djokovic
                  Federer
                  Zverev
                  Nadal

                  WTA

Halep (more hope than expectation there)
                  Williams (S)
                  Muguruza
                  Wozniacki

Del Potro has just beaten Ferrer in Auckland, and should win the final.

This might affect your predictions by about 0.1%.

Must go put the food shopping away, but dragging this up to score shortly when I have a mo.

There should be two separate predictathon scorings on the ATP side really, as I take it from my post of 2 January that there was some major Murray news around that day which gave a significant advantage to those putting their selections in after that date compared to those of us who went earlier (although kudos to San B, who went earlier but still had the foresight to omit Murray from his top 4, unlike the four other early entrants myself included).

OK, I've done the scoring, on the assumption that the year end rankings will be the same as this week's official rankings, at least amongst, say, the top 20. On the ATP side, as noted, things are totally skewed by some of us announcing our tips before we'd had the Murray news on 1st or 2nd January. My scoring system needs further refinement, I think, as a tip for Murray in the top 4 cost over 250 points.

Congrats to ad hoc for winning both the ATP and WTA predictathons and for perming the top 4 ATP places. Congrats to Jimski for getting the top 3 ATP, in the correct order.

                        Results:

                        ATP

                        ad hoc +6
                        San B -1
                        Sam -12
                        Janik -25
                        Jimski -226
                        multipleman - 248
                        Logan M - 275
                        EEG - 280

                        WTA

                        ad hoc -30
                        multipleman - 34
                        Jimski -35
                        EEG -41

Much tipped WTA players who underperformed:

                          Serena (finished 16th)
                          Muguruza (18th)

Also tipped and unsuccessful: Barty (15), Ostapenko (22), Sharapova (29), Konta (37), Vanderweghe (103).

ATP players tipped who underperformed (apart from the mainly absent Murray): Dimitrov (19) and Goffin (22)

Highest finishing players who none of us tipped: on the ATP side Anderson (6th), and on the WTA side Kerber (2nd).
