    Youthquake

...is the word of the year.

It's a year late to offer Pete Burns a tribute, that. I mean, decent album though it was, it wouldn't have been nominated for any prizes even in 1985.

This was a good track to end it though.

(could have been in Music, yes I know. Nil thread etc)

My first reaction on reading about youthquake's new found status was that it has certainly been a slow burning success, the Mary Wesley or Seasick Steve of words.

Indeed, some thirty-two years after La Burns's biggest moment in the spotlight.

I'll be honest, I'd not especially noticed that it had become a zeitgeist term in 2017.

Me either. As if 'groovy' and 'hip' were the two runners up.

How is a word that I've literally never heard "Word of the Year"? Surely it should be something that I'd never heard of last year, but now use regularly (after a 3 month spell where I annoy everyone by whinging "What's this "mansplaining" mean then?" "What's this Brexit?").

I bet wingco et al are kicking themselves for not pushing 'arsequake' more. It could have been in the dictionary by now.
