    Snowbird, Robin Guthrie ...

I've been on a Cocteau Twins binge for the last few days (happens quite often), and as their canon is finite I've been thinking about investigating some Cocteaus related stuff to keep me going.

I've been looking at reviews of the Snowbird (Simon Raymonde and Stephanie Dosen) album and they are mixed, with some saying it's phenomenal but others the opposite. Does anyone here know it?

And what about Robin Guthrie's solo work? I've not heard any, so would be interested in recommendations!

I've never investigated the offshoots you mention, but I do remember Lowlife, Will Heggie's band after leaving the Twins, were quite atmospheric.

If you haven't already done this Cocteau Twins are a band where investigating live bootlegs is really rewarding. Some great stuff on Youtube

Not a spinoff per se but Robin Guthrie produces an Australian band based in France called Heligoland that I think are pretty decent. The Bethmale and Sainte Anne EPs are my favourites and by chance - they’re really not a very prolific bunch at all - they have a new release due out next week.

    Thank you. Will investigate both.

Golden Vein, BBC session, which I prefer to the official one. Very intense https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FRC...7BXnwYpdptRBgg

    Might be Elizabeth's greatest recording.

Just tried Heligoland. Great stuff. Thank you! Followed that with two great Cocteausalike tracks by Mandalay - "Not Seventeen" and "Like Her"

The gorgeous Mysterious Skin soundtrack with Harold Budd has some beautiful guitar parts, such as one reminiscent of Heaven Or Las Vegas starting at 6:52:

On Guthrie generally, parts of Sigur Rós seem to provide a valid comparison
