    Congratulations Surrey.

    (For "buying" the Championship.

    Or something.

After a start to the season that offered some hope, Leicestershire soon returned to type and were pretty abysmal. The innings loss to Warwickshire/Birmingham was called "a setback" on the club's official Facebook site, which met with a few derisive comments (none offensive). All comments were deleted this morning. And just to prove things never change, yet another promising player, this time Zak Chappell, is making the trip up the A46 to join Notts. Hope their physio is ready for some extra workload.

I think we can now stick a fork in Worcestershire, they're surely done.

Just looking at the sums, Lancs have one match remaining so can reach 136 maximum. This means Yorkshire need 11 points to secure Division 1 status.

This was rather amusing yesterday, including Porter's throw to the keeper which was so bad there may in fact have been time to get back.

Ooof, the new champions come out after lunch having posted 485. Then Morkel finds Trescothick's edge on the very first ball of Somerset's reply, 0/1.

Essex declare on 474/7 from 124 overs with Ravi Bopara unbeaten on 133. Worcestershire need 380 to make Essex bat again.

Did they switch pitches between innings at Somerset v Surrey?!

127/20. Under 53 overs all told.

For a while it looked like they might score their lowest ever total twice in the same day.

Mohammed Abbas 10 for 52, not a bad day at the office.

Good grief Leicestershire - where did that come from? Though Mohammed Abbas had the wind behind his arm that's still one cracking effort.

Porter with a snorter, bowling Clarke with the third ball of the morning and Worcs are five wickets away from relegation.

Yorkshire playing themselves into what should be a winning position. What an up-and-down side they've been this year. They are 217 ahead with 6 second-innings wickets in hand.

Though may they need to keep an eye on the rain?

A draw would take us to near safety, 22 points ahead of Lancs with one game to play (and our last game is at Worcestershire, so we ought to be able to at least pick up a bowling point or tow
