Bürki is keeping really well for Dortmund tonight. Not good enough for a point, but it would easily have been 1-5 with a lesser keeper.

It would be easier to have respect for real madrid if the rules pertaining to red cards applied to them. It's hard for a big team to have a player sent off in the cl, but its essentially impossible for a real madrid player to do it.

    Is Cavani playing?

Surprisingly comfortable for Man. United in Moscow, Lukaku and Martial on the scoresheet already.

Spoony: Yes, it's the full Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani front line.

    Lukaku makes it 3-0.

They may be 1-0 up, but Pourri St. Germain are slowly getting their arses kicked here.

Cavani scores a lovely goal, set up by Mbappé. Neymar goes to congratulate... Mbappé.

Celtic one nil up at Anderlecht. Nice goal, though possibly offside in the buildup.

Strong chance of five English clubs in the last 16: how thoroughly fucking depressing. OK you'd expect Liverpool and Spurs to get a whupping at that point and Real Madrid seem to be on a different level still to Chelsea and the Manchester clubs, plus having the referees in the back pocket, but still...

    Indeed.

That cross was from Marcos Alonso's weaker foot and Batshuayi's finish was absolutely clinical.

Man City v Napoli is an interesting one. Both sides flying in their respective leagues and each with a top, top Belgian.

    Sterling for City.

Varane with the own goal on a somewhat innocuous cross at the Bernabéu, Tottenham up 1-0.

Pre-game there was a minute of silence to Morricone's Once Upon A Time In The West, a very touching UEFA commemoration of fallen cowboys, indians and assorted caballeros in Sergio Leone productions.

Monaco's disastrous CL campaign continues, down 2-1 at Louis II to Besiktas at the 90th.

Awful performance by Sevilla puts them in danger in the group.

In the free-to-air game, Benfica just came close to scoring the goal of the season, against an amusingly lumpy Man United defence. Mourinho seems to think he's still playing the undefeatable superteam that is Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, going on the way they're approaching this game... against a team who lost 5-0 to Basel last time out.

Mrs P, who doesn't like football, asked whether the Benfica goalie is Steve McManamans son.

I have to admit, she has a point.

This game is like watching a beautiful six year old child attacking a sixteen stone 40-year-old man with a bunch of crysanthemums.
