So that's a change at the top, in fact, with cricket and tennis changing places and not far off changing post counts compared to 2016.

Cycling and baseball stay third and fourth, but with the difference between them much greater than last year.

Rugby Union moved back into the top five in a non-Olympic year and could have had fourth if the 2016 post count had been repeated. Once again, it is followed by American Football in sixth.

I'll quote it for you if you like. It hints tantalisingly at bigger things to come for the Sport in this forum in 2018.

London will host the 2018 Team World Cup in February 2018, to be held in the Copper Box. I'm going to look out for tickets and potentially try and head up for a day.

Technically I suppose the post count for Aussie Rules is also one rather than zero, in that I put up an OP for the AFL 2017 season and it was completely nilled thereafter. That's the importance of a monomaniac to a Sport thread, right there*: if you look through past AFL threads, we used to have an OTFer called Melbourne Arab - who now appears as 'Guest' unless he's been quoted - and he posted detailed reports and insights into the Aussie Rules season. Similarly, Snooker's fall out of the three-figures club coincides with fewer forum appearances from David Agnew.

- OTF's passion for American Football is dwindling by the year.

Hot take: I think the rolling international cricket thread is getting a bit too big and we should probably switch to having annual threads for international cricket, rather than adding a thousand posts each year to what is already a massive thread.

Or perhaps even better to run it from October-September, which might fit better with the series that it would cover?

It's the world ski-ing championships this weekend (Go Paris!). Does that fall into multisport?.

There's always grey areas but the multi-sport category was for a broader variety of things like the Commonwealths, Winter Olympics and the European Championships that had all sorts in. If there was a thread on ski-ing (or sliding, or track and field) then I would just count it as ski-ing come the end of the year but what goes in it is up to whoever posts on it.

All "pro cycling" goes under one banner on here (the threads include road, track and cyclocross - but there's no reason why people can't discuss mountain bike or BMX on there if they wanted to. The "pro" distinction is to separate the competition from "personal" cycling if you know what I mean).

Google indicates that it is a quite rare and rather antiquated spelling.
