Whatever you think of Bruce Forsyth, we will genuinely never see his like again. Seventy-five years, pretty much continuously, in showbusiness is astonishing.

At the crematorium when the coffin goes down the conveyor belt and through the curtain, it will be followed by a fondue, his and hers towels, sandwich maker a crockery set and a cuddly toy!

I didn't see the "Strictly" version, so to me Forsyth will always be the Generation Game and other shows of that era (including his flop, the Big Night, and the memorable occasion when he responded to his critics, on stage).

Telly warmth is an intriguing intangible - you see game shows and quizzes where the presenter simply hasn't got it, and your toes curl (they might be selfless saints off-screen, but the camera doesn't care). Brucie had it, perhaps more than anyone else of his time.

            RIP.

"I'm not sure this programme can go much lower"

The classic: Bruce presents "Have I Got News For You". Tears rolling down my cheeks ...
