At Cagliari, Benevento convert a penalty in the 94th minute that will give them their first point of the season, only to concede the winner in the 95th minute.

    Mamma mia.

Sassuolo v Milan about to start on BT1. Two sides both performing below expectations this season.

Consigli has had a shocker there, beaten to a corner by Romagnoli who gives Milan the lead. Sassuolo's protests are in vain - that was a cleanly won header.

            Giornata 12
Juventus were given an almighty scare by table-propping Benevento before the champions came from behind to win 2-1 and hand the league’s newcomers their 12th straight defeat of the season on Sunday. Gonzalo Higuaín and Juan Cuadrado scored in a 10-minute spell after half-time for Juventus after Amato Ciciretti gave Benevento a 19th-minute lead with a stunning free-kick – only their fifth goal of the campaign.

Juve’s win closed the gap on Napoli to one point after the leaders were held 0-0 at Chievo, dropping points for only the second time this season, and moved them into second place above Internazionale, who came back to draw 1-1 at home against Torino. Iago Falque silenced the crowd of more than 71000, who braved the wet conditions for the lunchtime kick-off when he burst past two defenders to fire Torino ahead on the hour. Joel Obi then headed wide from Adem Ljajic’s free-kick, missing a chance to put Torino further ahead, and Inter made the most of the let-off when Eder turned in Mauro Icardi’s header from close range in the 79th minute.

Roma clocked up a 12th consecutive away win in the league by beating Fiorentina 4-2 while Lazio’s match at home to Udinese was postponed after heavy rain left the Stadio Olimpico pitch waterlogged.

Elsewhere Milan breezed past Sassuolo to record their first Serie A win in four matches. Goals by Alessio Romagnoli and Suso ensured a routine 2-0 victory for Vincenzo Montella’s side in Reggio Emilia. (The Guardian)

Another copy-and-paste round up this week, folks, didn't manage to catch any myself.

              Giornata 13
Max Allegri’s decision to rest Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Barzagli backfired as Juventus lost valuable ground on Napoli with a 3-2 defeat at Sampdoria, who stay sixth, five points behind their opponents.

Buffon and Barzagli were left on the bench after Italy’s emotional World Cup failure, and watched as the home side raced into a three-goal lead. Duván Zapata opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Lucas Torreira and Gianmarco Ferrari added two goals in eight minutes to effectively seal an impressive win.

Juventus rallied in injury time through a Gonzalo Higuaín penalty and a second from Paulo Dybala, but it was not enough as they slipped four points behind Napoli. Maurizio Sarri’s side beat Milan 2-1 at home on Saturday, goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Piotr Zielinski extending their unbeaten start.

On Sunday evening, Internazionale defeated Atalanta 2-0 at the San Siro to climb into second place. Mauro Icardi scored both goals with his head to take his personal tally this season to 13 goals in 13 league games. Luciano Spalletti’s team are also unbeaten this term, with 10 wins and three draws so far.

Radja Nainggolan was labelled a “superhero” by Roma manager Eusebio di Francesco after scoring the winner in the Rome derby. Nainggolan put Roma 2-0 up over Lazio after Diego Perrotti’s opener, with Ciro Immobile pulling one back. Roma climbed above their local rivals and are two points behind Juve with a game in hand.

At the other end of the table, Benevento were denied their first point of a dismal campaign by an injury-time winner from Sassuolo to steal a 2-1 win. Federico Peluso won it for the visitors four minutes into injury time to leave promoted Benevento with 13 defeats from 13. (The Guardian)

Verona v Bologna is being played tonight, in that tradition of putting a not-hugely-appealing-on-the-face-of-it match in that slot.

                          It's itchy trigger-finger time as...

                          Giornata 14

... leads to a double sacking. Yes, Sassuolo, have decided that Cristian Bucchi was not living up to the expectations set by his predecessor with the Neroverdi sitting just one point above the relegation zone following a home defeat against struggling Hellas Verona. And just this morning Milan have replaced Montella with Gattuso, after they failed to move any nearer the Champions League places with a goalless draw at home to Torino.

Elsewhere, Juventus bounced back with a routine 3-0 win over Crotone, which meant they didn't lose ground on Inter or Napoli who both also won - with the Partenopei scoring the only goal of their win at Udinese through Jorginho, converting the rebound of his own penalty. Icardi, scoring twice for Inter, moves level with Immobile on 15 goals.

Roma threw away the chance of a win as, 1-0 up, De Rossi threw a slap, got sent off and conceded a penalty allowing Genoa to equalise. Lazio, likewise, conceded a late equaliser to Fiorentina while Sampdoria lost at Bologna.

Atalanta, off the back of spanking Everton on Thursday, host the hapless Benevento tonight.

                          Bologna 3 - 0 Sampdoria

The official YouTube channel is quite happy to throw a few minutes for each match out there every week. With Italian commentary, though.

They've set up the playlist for this week's highlights, though only four of the matches to go in it are up so far. The rest should come up today or tomorrow.

Benevento remain unbreached, an hour gone. For a team who want to keep it tight and hope for a break, they do give away a lot of needless fouls.

They're struggling, but Benevento are very unlucky in my opinion. A good number of their defeats have been by the odd goal - with at least three of those scored in time added.

Some Coppa Italia matches going on this week, with Sassuolo knocking out Bari 2-1 thanks to a 94th minute winner today.

Benevento, of course, were knocked out in the previous round in August by Perugia. 4-0, in fact.

Big shock this round, though, is Serie C side Pordenone knocking out Serie A's Calgiari, and a slightly smaller shock as Serie B's Cittadella knocked out Spal.

The top eight Serie A sides from 2016-17 join in the next round, the last 16, are all seeded, and will play at home.
