And that's the win. Tough ask for Napoli to capitalise though.

Yeah, that was less of a dramatic game, but certainly a crucial one.
The Premier League eschewed Monday night glamour this week, too, with Leicester v West Brom. It's also had WHU v Huddersfield, and the next Monday games are Burnley v Newcastle, then Brighton v Stoke. A couple of the 'big' teams have had Monday fixtures (Arsenal v WBA and Man C v Everton). Someone, somewhere has decided that this slot is a bonus rather than a big draw I suppose.

Giornata 8
So that weekend didn't go well for Juventus, and they are going to have to play catch up. Immobile is one of those Serie A goalscorers in crazily hot form at the moment and his strikes meant Lazio inflicted the first home defeat on Juve for two years, and see him become the capocannoniere at the moment. In their 57 previous home matches, Juve had won 50 - yes, 50 - and drawn 7.
But another remarkable run is happening - Napoli's winning streak. Picking up the three points at Roma to capitalise was no mean feat, but Insigne's goal was enough to see them extend their advantage over the champions. But Inter's win in a dramatic Milan derby keeps them as the closest contenders. And on Saturday night, it's Napoli v Inter. Mmmm.
Inter have a unique advantage, if you like, over Napoli, Juve, Lazio and Roma in that they are not competing in Europe this season. The other title contenders all face tough matches in midweek.
At the bottom, well, that was a crucial win tonight for Hellas Verona. Sassuolo, sadly, take their spot in the bottom three.

Saw highlights of the Cagliari/Genoa match from last week. It was wonderful — and surprising — to see Adel Taarabt dominate a game like he did six years ago. I figured he was a spent force, but he can obviously still do it when he gets his head on straight. I hope it wasn't just a one off, I'll be watching for Genoa's upcoming matches.

Caught a bit of the Verona derby where Chievo's winning goal seemed to be a complete miskick that might have gone in via his arse. Nothing beats a scrappy, shite goal to win a derby.
And poor Vincenzo Montella. Team playing awful, lost last week's derby in the last minute and the new owners have never wanted you. Still, you have a winnable home game against Genoa to steady the ship and get things back on track. What you really don't need is your marque signing getting himself sent-off after 25mins for elbowing an opponent. Game finishes 0-0 and Milan are now 9 points off 4th place and that Champions League spot that they've gambled the entire mortgage on. And just to rub it in there's talk of Walter Mazzarri being lined up to replace him. That's gotta hurt!
