That penalty would likely have been given had video technology been deployed because Lovren shoved the forward, however much he invited and/or exaggerated the contact.

its basically his one job. You're in the penalty area, the ball is probably going to go out for a goal kick, the nearest supporting player to calvert lewin is Rooney who just passed the ball 40 yards to him. All he has to do is not plough straight into the forward and push him in a really obvious way.

I've only just seen that game, didn't know the result before, so I'm late to the general hilarity. It's the total predictability that makes it so sweet - as already pointed out on this thread, the Everton equaliser somehow became more certain the less likely it looked. And more predictable still was Klopp's reaction, what a fuckwit. He's just a cliched case study for Psychology Module One, deflecting responsibility like a NRA idiot who leaves the loaded gun lying around and blames the kid for picking it up. Pathetic.

It's unlikely any of this would have been a factor had Mane squared the ball to any of three waiting players instead of being greedy and shooting from an angle. It was one of those moments you can just tell will get punished later. Klopp's complaints merely distract from the fact Liverpool should have been out of sight by then.

Meanwhile over in Germany, Bayern vs Koeln is only 1-0 with just over ten minutes to go. The play is almost entirely in the away half, but one counter-attack...Last edited by Janik; 13-12-2017, 21:17.

Burnley are joint fourth, even if behind Spurs and Liverpool on GD. United and Chelsea betwixt and between.Last edited by Diable Rouge; 13-12-2017, 21:59.

Fourth place is a ridiculous state of affairs. The Clarets Twitter hashtag last night after the final whistle was about 100 variations on screenshots of the table. A top ten finish is still not beyond us. Already played Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and City away and Arsenal at home. Spurs at home next week, Man Utd on Boxing Day and mid-January, Liverpool on New Years Day. Theoretically two wins to stay up, or three for the 40 point marker could see us safe by the end of January. Which is, as I say, ridiculous.
