That penalty would likely have been given had video technology been deployed because Lovren shoved the forward, however much he invited and/or exaggerated the contact.

What the heck is Lovren supposed to do? He’s being run into!

Not shove the striker in the back.

its basically his one job. You're in the penalty area, the ball is probably going to go out for a goal kick, the nearest supporting player to calvert lewin is Rooney who just passed the ball 40 yards to him. All he has to do is not plough straight into the forward and push him in a really obvious way.

I've only just seen that game, didn't know the result before, so I'm late to the general hilarity. It's the total predictability that makes it so sweet - as already pointed out on this thread, the Everton equaliser somehow became more certain the less likely it looked. And more predictable still was Klopp's reaction, what a fuckwit. He's just a cliched case study for Psychology Module One, deflecting responsibility like a NRA idiot who leaves the loaded gun lying around and blames the kid for picking it up. Pathetic.

It's unlikely any of this would have been a factor had Mane squared the ball to any of three waiting players instead of being greedy and shooting from an angle. It was one of those moments you can just tell will get punished later. Klopp's complaints merely distract from the fact Liverpool should have been out of sight by then.

Yes. It didn't look like a close game at all so for it all to hinge on that one decision is nonsense.

Very easy for Man C at Swansea, whose defence was asleep on both goals.

Claude Puel will be feeling pretty good about himself at the moment. He will be soft spoken, magnanimous and show a touch of class though.

                      Fucking hell, David Silva.

                        City are being really City.

Defying the Southampton fans caricature of his style as well, by having a team with lots of attacking teeth. Leicester had managed 15 shots by the hour mark, ten of them on target. It's almost like Football fans are far to rapid in pigeonholing people, and that the resources to hand often dictate team set-ups.

Meanwhile over in Germany, Bayern vs Koeln is only 1-0 with just over ten minutes to go. The play is almost entirely in the away half, but one counter-attack...

West Ham proving tough to break down for Arsenal. Moyes might be good for 'em. It's the new West Ham Way.

Ooh, chance for Koeln but good save by the Bayern 'keeper. A minute plus stoppages. Still on...

Only 1 minute of injury-time in Munich. Inverse Fergie time. FFS. And we are done.

Just realised Iam watching Schalke and Augsburg have a wee classic, when Bayern is on the other channel. Too engrossed in A Tale of Two Cities.

Burnley are joint fourth, even if behind Spurs and Liverpool on GD. United and Chelsea betwixt and between.

Indeed. A point ahead of Arsenal, which could and probably should have been two. BT Sport are yet to work out that Cech got a fingertip that turned Hernandez's late shot on to the bar.

Would have been solely ours if Aaron Ramsay didn't have the strength of a Digestive biscuit dunked in tea.

Fourth place is a ridiculous state of affairs. The Clarets Twitter hashtag last night after the final whistle was about 100 variations on screenshots of the table. A top ten finish is still not beyond us. Already played Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and City away and Arsenal at home. Spurs at home next week, Man Utd on Boxing Day and mid-January, Liverpool on New Years Day. Theoretically two wins to stay up, or three for the 40 point marker could see us safe by the end of January. Which is, as I say, ridiculous.

Burnley have conceded fewer goals than anyone except the top two.

Good result for Köln. I had visions of a 7-0 demolition. Holding out with a team that has 12 regular-choice outfield players missing, and with a full-back playing as the striker, holding on to a 0-0 for more than an hour at Bayern is a good performance.

The commentators yesterday were suggesting that David Silva may now be Man City's best ever player. This is harsh on Colin Bell and Yaya Toure IMHO; Aguero I dunno.

As you've mentioned it twice this week, is there any video of this penalty incident as I didn't see it at the time?

Is BT Sport the one covering the games with Goal Rush? (it was West Ham-Arsenal, Speight and "nothing ever too obvious" Hutchinson).

Anyway, it's annoying. Especially breaking off for non-goals.
